Style Guide The rustic style: definition

This morning, about to decorate my new house I started looking for a post in decoesphere about the rustic style and I have realized that, although we can presume that we have a lot of information on our page we need something else theoretical and schematic about each of the decorative styles.

As there is no greater truth than that of if you want something do it yourself and taking advantage of the fact that I had to look for information for myself, I decided to get to it and talk to you in the coming weeks of different styles, solving those doubts that I have and probably also at some point many of you and of course, hanging many images that in the end They are the ones that give us true inspiration.

I will try to answer those basic questions such as where the style comes from, what houses are good for, for which people, what are the key materials and pieces, the colors that combine better ... in short, a bit of a very concrete way to whatever I propose a guide.

The rustic style:

As it has been the one who has given me the idea I will start with the rustic style a style that starts to become fashionable again like everything we miss.

Every time we live less in the countryside, the wood is replaced in the cities by concrete and many times we try to transfer to our houses what we long for, such as life in the countryside or tranquility.

It is the same as with food, we are increasingly pulling towards more traditional food or with hotels, many already prefer to go to the countryside to a rural house than to mega-constructions that we can see in the big cities.

From the previous paragraph you will have been able to deduce, those who no longer knew it, which is the rustic style which is nothing more than the one inspired by the countryside, which we can see in rural houses, farmhouses or villages of medians.

The Royal Academy defines rustic as:

Rustic, ca. (From lat. Rustĭcus, de rus, campo). 1. adj. Belonging or relative to the field. 2. adj. coarse (‖ rude). 3. m. Country man.

And although in the first I agree in the second no, many rustic-style pieces are truly cared for, worked to the fullest and even in some cases they are really handmade which discards the rough.

Well, we have the introduction, tomorrow we will talk about the characteristics that your house must have in order to implement this style, so as I always tell you, a little patience.

A good idea: one tree per coat rack

I think we all saw the classic clothes rack as a small tree inside the house. With its roots, its trunk, its branches. They were deciduous trees but conversely, in bare summer and in leafy winter. If you have not yet got rid of that childhood image, you may find this Eric Ginder design attractive.

Mix of rustic and modern styles in a house with a cellar in Catalonia

If there is something that is a trend in the current decoration is the mixture of styles, the search for contrasts is continuous and there are houses in which it is achieved almost in a natural way as in this old mill transformed into housing with area destined to cellar in Tarragona, Catalonia.
